Multiple incidents cause traffic on eastbound SPID to back up

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Two separate traffic incidents caused traffic to back up on eastbound SPID near the Everhart around noon Monday.

According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, a delivery truck traveling eastbound on SPID lost a wheel and its axle. It was forced to stop and wait for a wrecker to pull it off the road.

A short time later, the driver of a silver SUV was struck from behind by another vehicle, also in the eastbound lanes of SPID. The driver of the SUV complained to first responders that she was having chest pains and was transported to the hospital.

Traffic remained backed up on SPID as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
