Multiple reports of jackknifed semi-trucks on the North Freeway

Several 18-wheelers were stuck on overpasses on the North Freeway after they jackknifed when they hit patches of ice on overpasses.

HOUSTON – The North Freeway reopened after it was closed when several semi-trucks jackknifed on frozen overpasses overnight.

The North Freeway was closed near Cypresswood as crews worked to clear the scene.

Officials with the Houston Fire Department said the roads are deceptive. Overpasses were covered with a sheet of ice making them impassable, while side streets were littered with some smaller, but dangerous patches of ice.
