In 1946, the US Navy Antarctic Developments Project, or `Operation Highjump', was launched and it was perhaps the biggest single event that the continent had ever seen. My dad was their. He always told me stories about his time in Antarcica. He was very proud. We are proud. Jose A. Ortiz Born June 6, 1928 and passed in July 16, 2006. He was a great father, great man.
