I am vacationing in Florida this week with my wife, son, sister-inlaw, her fiance and niece(sister-inlaws daughter). We are all going to attend Disney Monday - Wednesday. We walked out of a gift store Saturday afternoon at approx. 4:30 - 5:00 P.M. Eastern when we noticed a huge cloud of dark brown, white and grey smoke rising south east of Disney World. (Note the time the Pics were taken. My Camera is set to Central time). The first thing that entered our minds was that somthing was happening at one of the Disney parks so we decided to follow the smoke to its place of origin. At one point in route we drove under the cloud and stopped at a traffic light and saw ashes floating down in front of us. Rolled down the windows to the van and could smell that wood must be burning. When we arrived to the scene of the fire it looked as if a long narrow strip of forest was burning. Some homes were in danger as fire trucks were parked in front of the homes. Flames were as close as 30 ft. to the nearest house. Local news did not give specifics as to what caused the fire but the fire was under control by 10:30 P.M. Good side of the story is that the fire was no where near any of the Disney parks.
