Today the Mo Azul, a 43 foot Cabo, became a cruise ship for turtles anxiously awaiting their return to the ocean. The turtles were found wounded or stranded and were rehabilitated at the ARK (Animal Rehabilitation Keep) in Port Aransas, TX under the supervision of Director Tony Amos.
Today they were escorted back home by Tony Amos, employees and volunteers of the ARK, and a few TV crews. Mo Azul is owned by Chad and Kristen Shimaitis and the Captain was Peter Young, joined by his wife Cathy. Many thanks to them for providing their beautiful boat for such a great cause!
All the turtles, (16 Kemps Ridleys, 1 Hawksbill and 1 Loggerhead) were taken off shore and released off the boat. And they lived happily ever after.
