Last night in Corpus Christi LULAC Council Number One honored their scholarship winner at a banquet at the Holiday Inn Airport.
Forty-three Coastal Bend high school and early college students and their parents were treated to dinner and recognition.
Kiii TV, Channel 3 was the only Corpus Christi television station to cover the event. The kids had a great time, especially when the Feria de las Flores queen candidates came up to the head table to be recognized. We wish the students good luck in their college careers.
We were fortunate enough to sit a table where three recipients were having dinner with their parents. Erika Ysassi is going to the University of Texas to major in petroleum engineering. Such a brain! She received a $1,000 scholarshp.
Michael Kay and Manuel Lopez are heading off to college too. They were well behaved and respectful, and each had a flash in their eye of future success and leadership.
