After last year's cancellation of the celebration due to hurricane Ike, this year is really going to be a spectacle. And by the number of migrating Ruby Throated Hummingbirds coming in, it will be something everyone will want to experience. These red cutout bird signs are popping up all over the city and surrounding areas. They signify the yard is a host Hummer home and it is okay for you to enter the property and watch the thirsty birds gorge themselves on nectar plants and feeders. The property owners appreciate your interest and enthusiasm and we love to share with the public our good fortune to have these amazing birds in our yards.
The event packed celebration runs this Thursday thru Sunday. Thursday starts the host home self-guided tours with maps being available at the Chamber of Commerce in Rockport harbor. Friday thru Sunday there are scheduled speakers, guided tours and vendors open in the Rockport high school.
