Ashley Gonzalez joined the 3News team in March of 2019. She grew up in Weslaco, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley. She went to school at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in Journalism in May of 2019.
Ashley began her journey in professional broadcast at KIII as a photographer and editor on weekend mornings. Shortly after, she moved up to a multi-skilled journalist. Just two years in the broadcast world, Ashley was promoted a Sports Anchor. She is the first woman in the stations history to fulfill this position.
Before joining the 3News team, Ashley was on the Corpus Christi Hooks game-day production team for three seasons where she directed Minor League productions, ran graphics, statistics and replay. In college, Ashley helped run the Javelina Broadcast Network at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She was recognized by the state at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association for content she produced in 2017.
When she is not at the station, she enjoys the company of good pup, Stella. She is a passionate Spurs fan and loves a good ball game.

When I was young, I wanted to be: A veterinarian. I love animals!
Favorite story you ever worked on: In Fall of 2021, I interviewed two women who are trailblazers in the community and making waves in the Coastal Bend. The story was about 'Women in Sports'. I interviewed a woman football official who took her love for football to a new level. I also caught up with Brenda Marshall who is the Athletic Director of CCISD. At the beginning of her time, she was one of five women in all of Texas who were working in High School athletics. These women have paved the way for girls all over south texas who want a future in sports.
Favorite food: I love PIZZA! Honestly, I am the least picky person when it comes to food...I love it all.
Describe your perfect day: The best day for me would involve my four-legged best friend, Stella. We love hikes! That being said, my best day would involve a long hike with the sun out.
Favorite movie: This one is hard. I can't choose one, sorry :) Remember The Titans, Selena, White Chicks, Norbit.
