Mariah Gallegos is a Multi-Skilled Journalist, serving as a storyteller for communities across the Coastal Bend. She also is a forecaster and helps keep the community weather-prepared.
Mariah covers a range of topics including most recently the coronavirus pandemic and the 2020 presidential election. Her favorite stories are those that center around people in the community, from Refugio to Kingsville. She strives to be a voice for the voiceless and bridge the gap between the people and city-county leaders.
In the fall of 2020, Mariah returned to school online through Mississippi State University for her Meteorology degree. Since then, she has joined the 3News Weather Team and helps deliver forecasts on the weekends.
Mariah came to the coast after spending time in the desert. She graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. During her time in college she was a reporter for Cronkite News; covering next-generation innovation, education and politics. She interned at KJZZ, an NPR station, where she wrote and tracked news stories daily for on-air radio.
Her hobbies include finding unique items at thrift stores, cuddling her fur baby; Charlo, and visiting family in Houston.
