HOUSTON — Xavi Garcia is not letting anything hold him back from any Cinco de Mayo festivities. Not even his battle with spina bifida.

Raul C. Martinez Elementary had a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the school Thursday and Xavi and his adorable dance partner, Yolie Gomez, stole the show.

The two danced their little hearts out in their traditional Mexican attire, and Xavi made the perfect dance partner all while being in a wheelchair.

He didn’t miss a beat!

Spina bifida is a condition that affects the spine and is usually apparent at birth, according to the CDC.

Xavi’s mom, Ana Garcia, said he is a patient at Shriners Hospital for Children.

“Xavi has been through four surgeries and he is currently going to therapy to straighten himself to see if he’s able to walk,” said Ana.

Xavi also has problems with his kidneys and bladder, but Ana says he’s a young man full of life.

Way to put a smile on our face, Xavi!
