Michigan man installs candy zip line for trick-or-treaters

People are coming up with creative solutions to enjoy the Halloween season.

GARDEN CITY, Mich — As concerns over the safety of trick-or-treating during the pandemic arise, one Michigan resident has figured out a way to keep the tradition socially distanced.

Matt Thompson, from Garden City, Mich., built a "candy zip line" that will allow him to give out candy to neighbor trick-or-treaters while still abiding by the pandemic safety guidelines.

The zip line, decorated as a ghoul, delivers candy from his front porch to the sidewalk -- along with adult beverages for mom and dad.

"I use a rubber band to tie the candy to the hands of the skeleton, put the beer in the beer caddy, and shove it off 'til it hits the pole," Thompson explained.

Thompson said he loves to create things that are "over the top" and hopes his creation makes people smile and laugh a little this Halloween.
