Small Business Saturday: Makeup Junkie Bags shares some of the secrets to their success during the pandemic

One reason they were able to keep their customer base was because the business originally began online.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — In Corpus Christi, a woman has turned her small business into a huge success, even during the coronavirus pandemic.

"It's been a bit of a rollercoaster; at first there was a nosedive in the retail market, and wholesale markets closed," Meredith Jurica with Makeup Junkie Bags said.

The business started four years ago out of her home. She was hard hit when the pandemic began, but things bounced back quickly for her.

One reason they were able to keep their customer base was because the business originally began online, so she was already familiar with how to market her products.

She also branched out into different products to meet her customers' needs.

"We started with the lay-flat makeup bags, and now we've branched out into travel bags, makeup, clothing, and we've become a lifestyle brand over the last couple of years," Jurica said.

Jurica recently opened a 6,000 square foot showroom for her products, and she has this advice for others who want their businesses to thrive during the pandemic:

"Keep your mind, body, and soul in equilibrium, and remember the nature of business," Jurica said. "It will always come back up."
