Del Mar College offering training to help businesses rebound from losses during the pandemic

The program includes training in hospitality, management, career resilience and human resources.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Del Mar College is providing a training course to help local businesses rebound from the pandemic. The college was just awarded a $100,000 grant by the Texas Workforce Commission to come up with a program to assist businesses that have been hard hit.

From that grant came the 'Recharge Coastal Bend' initiative; it's an online training program with four different academies you can choose to attend.

Lucy Kernan is the interim director for corporate services; she said the training will be led by business experts.

"We have two incredible instructors who have backgrounds in business management and human resources," Kernan said. "We have some really good subject matter experts delivering the Recharge Coastal Bend Programs."

The academies include training in hospitality, management, career resilience and human resources. The courses are eight hours long, and broken up into two days. The cost is $199 per person, but if you are eligible for the Texas Workforce Commission Grant, we're told that fee will be waived.
