CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi City Council passed a Small Business Regional Recovery Program in partnership with the Port of Corpus Christi to award $500 to business owners who apply. The money would go towards their utility account.
$500,000 will come from the city's Type-A fund with the Port putting up $250,000 of its own money for the program.
"It means a whole lot to the small business community; I've spoken to many of them and they said the utility credit to their account would be extremely helpful because they can reroute those funds for their operational uses," Paulette Guajardo City Council at-large said. "It's critical small businesses are everything."
Among the requirements, the business must employ up to 20 full-time or part-time workers. It must be located in Nueces County or San Patricio County and been in operation at least 12 months with annual gross revenue of not more than one million dollars.
