Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens and wildlife biologists have spent the last few days at the Lonesome Bull Ranch on County Road ranch in Sandia, Texas, confiscating deer.
About 200 whitetail deer were confiscated and euthanized. Samples from the deer have been sent off to be tested for chronic wasting disease, which can only be tested for post-mortem, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Kiii News Reporter Bill Churchwell went Live from the ranch with the details.
The 2,600-acre ranch has over 40 different types of exotic animals used for hunting purposes. Investigators say the ranch also serves as a deer breeding facility, and it has not met state requirements. Therefore, game wardens will not allow their permit to be renewed.
That means the deer breeding section has been shut down.
