A woman is recovering in the hospital after she was involved in an accident while driving westbound on the SPID access road between Everhart and Weber.
According to police, the accident happened around 12:45 a.m. Witnesses said the woman accelerated, crashed into a fence and flipped her car. Police believe the driver had a medical condition which caused her to hit the gas.
Firefighters were called out to use the Jaws of Life to rescue the victim.
"They had to lift the vehicle to get the subject's arm released, and after that they transported her to Spohn Memorial," said Captain Buddy Atkinson with the Corpus Christi Fire Department.
Atkinson said the victim suffered injuries to her left arm, but that they do not appear to be life threatening.
