It was last June when 18-year old Kristene Chapa and her 19-year old girlfriend, Mollie Olgin, were shot in a Portland park.

For Olgin, the wound was fatal, but Chapa managed to survive the gunshot wound to her head, defying all odds and even doctors, who at one point doubted that she would ever be able to walk again.

Not only is Chapa well on her way to recovery, but she will be throwing the first pitch at Sinton High School's softball game on Tuesday.

On Monday, for the first time since the deadly assault in that Portland park, Chapa agreed to sit down with Kiii News Reporter Jessica James at her home in Sinton.
