It was learned late Thursday afternoon that a litter of six or seven puppies that were picked up by Animal Control officers Wednesday have all been put down.
One Animal Control officer said the pups had to be hand fed several times a day, and that they just didn't have the personnel to do that.
The litter was discovered by a couple of workers who were cleaning up a nearby business on Savage Lane on the city's northwest side.
According to the Gulf Coast Humane Society, they would not been able to take the pups either. They also would not have had the personnel available to hand feed the puppies.
Corpus Christi Police Chief Floyd Simpson said that it appears the puppies were not diseased.
