Investigators from the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were on the scene Monday of what is being called the county's first homicide case this year.
It was Sunday night when married couple Marissa and Christopher Montes were found inside of their vehicle in a ditch on the 1200 block of South Gulf Street in Alice. Both of them had gunshot wounds to the face.
Marissa, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene, and her husband, 23-year old Christopher, was sent to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi via HALO Flight. He is currently listed in critical condition.
Alice police say it is their first homicide of 2013. The case is still under investigation.
