Beeville police say they caught a man red handed early Thursday morning after he had just burglarized a business.

Leroy Echavarria, Jr., 22, faces charges of burglary of a building and evading arrest.

Police said it was a little before 1 a.m. when Echavarria allegedly used a hammer to break into the Saenz Western Wear shop in Beeville, and then stole six pairs of boots. A detective said he caught the suspect a block down the street.

All of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.

Police said the suspect is not tied to the burglary of the Moreno Middle School that happened earlier in the week.
