Three kayakers had their kayak overturned near Bob Hall Pier Thursday, and were forced to swim for shore. Luckily, a nearby boater came to the rescue.

"We went too far. Way too far. And we were trying to get back and my step dad got too tired," 16-year old Steven Rosenbaum said. "He couldn't go anymore, so he got in the boat and I was trying to paddle. We weren't getting nowhere, and then just some boat came and got us."

Experts say that, unless you're an experienced kayaker, you should not go out in the Gulf of Mexico, even on a calm day, because it requires skill to get back into a kayak out there in the open water.

The boy's stepfather was taken away on a stretcher. He wound up being treated for exhaustion.
