Corpus Christi police scrambled to divert buses and passengers just before 8:30 a.m. Thursday after a suspicious package was found at the Staples bus station.
The package was found by an off-duty Nueces County Constable. The Corpus Christi Police Department Bomb Squad was called to the scene shortly after. Investigators said the package consisted of a bunch of electrical parts wrapped together and tied with a padlock.
Police said that whoever left the package meant to incite fear, and that suspect could face serious charges.
"We looking at it like a hoax at this point," said Lt. Edward Longoria of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "Possibly had the intent to have that fear."
Police are still reviewing surveillance video from the bus station, which was reopened after the all clear was given.
