CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Small plastic pellets have been known to wash up along Coastal Bend beaches and can be harmful and deadly for wildlife.
Nurdles are tiny, plastic pellets that are supposed to be used in many everyday products. They keep washing up on our shores instead, and turtles think they are food.
Beyond being dangerous for animals, nurdles are bad for Coastal Bend beaches.
"We're trying to train people to be able to go out, do these surveys and be able to send us the data so that we can map and try to find the source of where these nurdles are coming from," director Jace Tunnell said.
Researchers tell 3news that they see nurdles on nearly all of the beaches.
