Corpus Christi Independent School District board members met behind closed doors Thursday in hopes of coming up with a list of superintendent candidates to interview.
They are trying to find someone to replace Scott Elliff, the current superintendent who is retiring from the district.
The board has been working with the BWP Consulting Firm on the qualifications for the ideal candidate. The public also helped with that process by filling out an online survey about what they wanted to see in a new superintendent.
Of the candidates, 31 come from around the state. The exact number of candidates, however, was not revealed on Thursday. The district hopes to have a new superintendent by the first day of school in August.
