CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man and woman are in jail, facing charges following a SWAT standoff with Corpus Christi police Friday.
It happened outside a home on 16th Street and Cole, near the Del Mar College East campus. Police were called out to the scene when witnesses called 911 to report a man with a gun who was allegedly holding a woman inside the home hostage. When officers arrived, the man barricaded himself and the woman inside the home.
SWAT was called in with hostage negotiators to help de-escalate the situation. Fortunately no one was injured.
The man and woman inside the home, who have not been identified, were taken into custody. The man faces charges of aggravated assault. Police say the woman also faces charges because she had a warrant out for her arrest.
