PORTLAND, Texas — The remembrance ceremony was held on Sunday to commemorate those who have lost their lives in the service of their country.
As part of the event, Ram Chavez and the veterans band of Corpus Christi performed an honor ceremony for the members of the armed forces.
Portland city council member, Thomas Yardley said that this event "It's important first of all because those who have given their lives are the ones that allowed us the type of life we have today...recognizing those who have given their lives is a good way to remember that."
Yardley also said that it is always nice to see the community celebrate together and honor our heroes.
