The new city ordinance prohibiting drivers from using their cell phones while driving has only been enforced for a little over a week, but what about visitors coming to town?

How are they supposed to know about the new ordinance?

It turns out the City Engineering Department is working on that. They plan to put up 17 signs in strategic locations around the city notifying visitors of the ordinance. It will cost the City around $10,000.

The only hold up is that they are still waiting on approval from the Texas Department of Transportation in Austin.

"These are regulatory signs. We have to make sure under the law we have the proper text," City Traffic Engineer Raymond Chong said. "We just can't put any sign or any verbage. It has to be per-TxDOT approval."

They are hoping that the signs will be up by the first of the year.
