The City is getting ready to shut down a portion of South Staples to repair a broken wastewater pipe.
"The subcontractor that's doing the underground found a crushed wastewater pipe," Wastewater Director Foster Crowell said. "It goes into a manhole, and it's a high-profile, high-volume area. We decided to do the repair at night."
The line was found crushed at the intersection of Bonner and Staples. The sewage is apparently still flowing, but the pipe is exposed and the City wants it repaired.
So motorists, take note: the work will begin at 9 p.m. Monday, and will end at around 7 a.m. the next day. South Staples will be closed in that area, and traffic will be diverted.
