The mission of the Children's Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend is to break the cycle of child abuse one victim at a time, and on Friday night, they held one of their biggest fundraisers of the year.
The event was called the Courage Bowl, and it attracted hundreds of local residents to the USS Lexington. They billed it as a sort of tailgate party to kick off Super Bowl weekend and raise money for the Advocacy Center.
Local dignitaries even made spoof commercials to rival those seen during the Super Bowl.
The event featured food, a silent auction and music by local musician Clarissa Serna.
This is the first year this event has been held.
