Blood trail from running car into home leads Beaumont police to fatal shooting victim

Officers were called to the neighborhood after a 911 caller reported shots were fired about 11:28 p.m. Saturday.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A shots fired call and a trail of blood from a running car leading into a home led police to a mortally wounded Beaumont man Saturday night. 

Cedric Carter, 38, of Beaumont, was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a home in the 5100 block of Oriole Drive and died later at a Beaumont hospital, Beaumont Police said in a post on the department's Facebook page.

Officers were called to the neighborhood after a 911 caller reported shots were fired about 11:28 p.m. Saturday, July 20, police said. Carter's car was still was still parked in the street running.

The investigation is ongoing since the circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear, police said.
