Deputy finds 14 high caliber weapons during traffic stop near Orange Grove, Texas

14 high caliber M-4 and AK47 style weapons were found, along with ammunition and magazines.

ORANGE GROVE, Texas — A traffic stop Friday on Highway 359 near Orange Grove, Texas, resulted in two arrests and the seizure of 14 high caliber weapons along with ammunition and magazines.

According to the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office, a deputy initiated the stop at around 9:30 p.m. Friday and made contact with the driver of the vehicle. There were three others in the vehicle, including a child and a female.

The deputy said the driver, identified as Jodie Rocha, was acting very nervous so he asked for consent to search the vehicle. He told authorities he was with his wife and cousin, who was later identified as Epigmenio Palomo, who police found to have an outstanding warrant.

The Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office said both Rocha and Palomo were convicted felons.

Rocha said he had a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle and consented to the search. During the search, 14 high caliber M-4 and AK47 style weapons were found, along with ammunition and magazines. Authorities said the calibers included .556, 7.62 and .338 Lapua Magnum.
