Suspect faces new charge in deadly 'Wild Rhino' hit-and-run

SAN ANTONIO -- A man who was already jailed in connection with one woman's death now faces a new charge in the same fatal hit-and-run.

SAN ANTONIO -- A man who was already jailed in connection with one woman's death now faces a new charge in the same fatal hit-and-run.

Frank Gonzalez, 31, is accused of running over Pauline Elizondo and Samantha Zapata on Aug. 27.

He is now charged with aggravated assault in connection with Zapata's injuries.

Gonzalez reportedly argued with Elizondo inside of the Wild Rhino bar the night she was killed. Investigators released surveillance video of the confrontation in September.

As KENS 5 reported, the incident reached its boiling point outside when police said Gonzalez got into a red truck and ran the women over.

Elizondo died after suffering massive head trauma. Zapata sustained a broken arm, leg and spinal fracture.

According to an arrest warrant, Gonzalez said he ran over the women in self-defense.
