Suspect in 2017 robbery on North Beach found guilty on two counts

The sentencing for Garcia begins at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. He could face anywhere from two to 99 years in prison.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man charged with three counts of aggravated robbery was back in court Wednesday as jurors decided his fate.

Robert Johnnie Garcia was found guilty on two counts of aggravated robbery and not guilty on one. He was arrested for a robbery that took place back on July 30, 2017, at the Pier 99 restaurant on North Beach.

According to detectives, Garcia was one of two men who took part in the robbery at Pier 99, entering the store with a gun and demanding money from an employee. The employee was pistol-whipped when she tried to shield herself. At the time, authorities said Garcia had an active parole warrant for carrying a prohibited weapon.

Garcia was sentenced to 34 years in prison.
