Residents near the Corpus Christi International Airport were on high alert Thursday after seeing what looked like gas steaming from a pipeline.
The steam seemed to be rising from the nearby Hopkins Road, so neighbors in that area contacted the police, and the Corpus Christi Fire Department stepped in to make sure everything was okay.
"In the end, it was just a saltwater line with a hole. It is a pipeline," CCFD Battalion Chief Kenneth Erben said. "Our monitoring didn't pick up anything. No danger to the public. All the necessary agencies were notified to do follow-ups and ensure things were taken care of. In the end, no danger to the public."
The company who owns the pipeline quickly fixed the leak.
