Del Mar College's Child Development/Early Childhood program donated 437 stuffed animals to the American Red Cross Wednesday morning.
The college gathered the stuffed toys by holding a teddy bear drive across the campuses in February. They were delivered to the Red Cross at the Center for Early Learning on Del Mar's East Campus. In turn, the Red Cross can provide the teddy bears to the children they are helping in hopes of easing their anxiety.
Along with the toy donation, a child-sized talking robot named Ernie the ERV was shown off to preschoolers at the Center for Early Learning. The robot is an emergency response vehicle, and it talked to children about ways to prevent injuries.
