Robert La Salle was one of the earliest explorers in America, and his exploits and story were on full display Thursday night in Rockport.

The Texas Maritime Museum played host to a book signing for the new book, "La Salle's Ghosts," a mystery novel revolving around the excavation of the sunken ship La Belle -- the ship La Salle used as he explored what he thought was the Mississippi River but turned out to be Matagorda Bay.

Aside from the evening's book signing, there were also artifacts on display from La Salle's adventures.
