The family of Jenna Hernandez, a 16-year old girl who was shot and killed execution style almost a year ago, wants justice.
On Thursday, the Aransas Pass family were in court to see the 19-year old Lawrence Mireles, who admitted to a witness that he committed the crime.
"I just want justice for everybody that was involved," said Jennifer Lanier, the victim's mother.
Lanier said that, while one man will be going on trial for murder, she believes there are others who also took part in her daughter's death.
Appearing before District Court Judge Tom Greenwell, Mireles listened as his attorney and the prosecutor discussed his upcoming trial. It is set to begin about a month from now, at which time prosecutors plan to show that Hernandez's movements were tracked by cell towers to the murder scene.
The teen's body was found near Redfish Bay. According to a police report, a witness said that Mireles confessed to shooting Hernandez and admitted that he was drunk and on Xanax at the time.
On Thursday, the victim's mother said she plans to be at Mireles' trial every day.
"At 16, she don't have a voice. She can't speak up. So I'm here to speak up for her, and that's all I want, is justice," Lanier said. "I plan to be here. Everything. When his lawyers throw something up that they want to be discover or disclosed, I'm here. I'm here."
The defense asked the judge to allow for time to find an expert witness to testify on any technical questions that may arise from the cell tower tracing. The judge agreed.
Trial for Mireles is set to start July 22.
