Fire crews are monitoring a blaze that broke out Thursday night at Lake Corpus Christi and burned through the night.

Residents in the area said the fire started around 6 p.m.

"We just saw a bunch of smoke and started looking," resident Taylor Tajchman said. "Took the binoculars out there and saw there was an actual fire out there."

The fire was still smoldering more than 12 hours later. Witnesses said members of the Swinney Switch Volunteer Fire Department were having trouble getting vehicles to the flames.

According to the Live Oak County Sheriff's Office, the fire is not near any homes and is very secluded, making it hard for firefighters to reach. They are keeping an eye on it and letting it burn out.
