Corpus Christi firefighters were kept busy on Thanksgiving day; not with any major fires, but smaller incidents, like one on the 6000 block of Cindia Street, where the homeowner found herself with an oven fire.
"Lady had a small fire in her oven. She was able to extinguish it with a dry can extinguisher she had in the house. Evacuated the house when we showed up and disconnected the power, and that's it," said Captain Jim DeVisser of the Corpus Christi Fire Department. "I think the turkey was saved, but..."
Damage to the home was minimal, and there were no injuries.
