The community of Port Aransas is still reeling after the loss of one of their own. Police say a drunk driver is responsible for the death of a father of three.

Jonathan Roos, 52, was the head grounds keeper at the Cinnamon Shores Resort on Mustang Island, the employees there are still in shock after the sudden loss of their friend.

"Just a guy who made everyone's lives better, just always a smile and a laugh. It was hard not to love John. We all loved him from the minute he was here and he is going to be greatly missed," said Jeff Wilkinson who was a friend and co-worker of Roos.

Roos was killed less than a mile up the road from where he worked. Early Tuesday morning his Jeep was rear-ended on State Highway 361 forcing him off the road. He was ejected and died at the scene.

Police say John Dominguez, 32, who owns Johnny D's, a popular restaurant on Padre Island, was behind the wheel of the pick-up truck. He's now charged with intoxication manslaughter and it isn't the first time he's been charged with drinking and driving. Dominguez is free after posting bond.

The victim's friends and family, including a son at Port Aransas High School, are now planning his funeral.
