NUECES COUNTY, Texas — Officials with the City of Corpus Christi and Nueces County provided the latest COVID-19 updates. Rewatch it here.

Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb announced the death of another city employee as a result of the virus. Vince Buentello worked for the Utilities Department and was a King High School graduate.

Public Health Director Annette Rodriguez said the number of patients hospitalized has decreased in the last week, but she said it could be because some of those people have recovered and have been released. She said it could also be that some have died.

"We do everything we can in our hospitals to make certain that we have the best medical treatment but these are the things that are difficult, but there are things that we can do," Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales said.

Canales added that even though there isn't a vaccine yet, doctors and medical staff can treat the symptoms by supplying oxygen for ICU patients, putting patients on ventilators, and administering IV medications.
