The Corpus Christi Fire Department continues to investigate a commercial building fire that broke out just after 10 p.m. Sunday a the Jet Specialty warehouse on Leopard Street.
Fire crews arrived at the scene to find flames and significant fire damage inside of the building. CCFD Captain James Brown said that, because of the structure's design, firefighters were forced to battle the fire from outside of the building.
"We have a metal building. That metal building will contain the heat," Brown said. "That heat starts to affect the steel supporting members, and that is what causes the whole structure to become weak."
Investigators were back at the scene Monday morning to determine the cause of the fire. So far, they have found no evidence linking it to arson, but it is still under investigation.
