Islander Pavilion and Courts opens at Water's Edge Park downtown

Thanks to a donation from Fulton Coastcon General Contractors, the pavilion and courts are a staple of the Corpus Christi downtown area.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas A&M Unversity-Corpus Christi community and the City of Corpus Christi held a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday for the new Islander Pavilion and Courts at Water's Edge Park.

Thanks to a donation from Fulton Coastcon General Contractors, the pavilion and courts are a staple of the Corpus Christi downtown area.

University officials said not only will the courts attract students, but they will also attract the public and tourists when they visit downtown.

"We felt like it was a perfect place to get the Islanders name and brand out there and engage with the community and invite folks to come to be a part of what we're trying to do," TAMUCC Director of Athletics Jon Palumbo said.

According to Palumbo, they look forward to using the courts to compete next season and hope the community will enjoy the courts just like they will.
