JIM WELLS COUNTY, Texas — Sheriff's deputies are working to identify the body of a young man that was found Tuesday morning on the side of County Road 481 off Farm-to-Market 1930 in southeast Jim Wells County.

Jim Wells County Sheriff Danny Bueno said the body was found without any identification or even a wallet, and now they are doing whatever they can to figure out who the man was.

It was just after 7 a.m. Tuesday when authorities said a motorist spotted what appeared to be a human body in the grassy area on the west side of County Road 481. The motorist immediately called authorities.

Deputies said the body was that of a light-skinned Hispanic male around 25 or 30 years old. He was wearing black shorts and a white t-shirt.

Now, the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department is asking anyone who might have information on someone who has been missing to contact them right away.

"The investigators have been out there all morning working to find out what might have happened to him, where he might have been," Bueno said. "We have contacted several local ranches and stores in the area to see if they have video of anyone fitting that description."

Bueno said he believes whatever happened to the young man must have happened Tuesday morning, and that his body must have not been there for very long.

Since the body was discovered, the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department has received a number of calls from concerned residents about missing loved ones, but so far there has not been a match.

In the meantime, an autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death. Also, fingerprints and dental records are being checked in hopes of identifying the victim.
