The planetarium at King High School is available for school and community groups during school hours, but on Tuesday nights, the general public is invited to check out the show.

"Well, the planetarium got its start from a grant from the federal government back in 1965, for the promotion of Earth space and science teachings in the high schools," Planetarium Director Laura Peck said. "So half the money came from the federal government to construct this facility."

Currently, the planetarium is offering a show called "Tales of the Mayan Skies" that will tell you about the mythology, study of stars, and they will touch on the Mayan calendar. Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for children and senior citizens. Show times are at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. next Tuesday.
