The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim in a shooting Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Dolphin's Landing Apartments on Weber Road.
The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Alekzandra Rangel.
According to police, it was just after 9:45 p.m. Wednesday when the Corpus Christi Police Department received a call about a robbery at the apartment complex. While en route to the scene, they received a call stating that a 20-year-old woman had been shot. Once there, officers found Rangel with an apparent gunshot to the head.
Police said that after the robbery at the apartment complex, a vehicle took off from the apartments and someone fired at it, hitting Rangel inside. She was rushed to Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital where she eventually died from her injuries.
The Medical Examiner's Office said an official cause of death has yet to be determined.
Two men, 17-year-old Ricardo Martinez and 21-year-old Justin Arredondo, were arrested for their part in the robbery, but were not charged in the shooting.
Police also arrested 21-year-old Willie Greenwood on an outstanding murder warrant in connection with the crime.
