Amnesty period ends for the 2019 Great Texas Warrant Roundup

Police said not clearing your warrants will prevent you from doing important things, like getting a job.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Friday was the last day for those with warrants to get them cleared at Corpus Christi's municipal court for the annual Great Texas Warrant Roundup.

Lines at the municipal court were out the door, and even down the block, as Corpus Christi residents took advantage of the week-long amnesty period prior to the Warrant Roundup.

The Warrant Roundup is meant to encourage people to take care of their warrants without having to worry about being arrested, but starting Saturday Marshalls will begin actively seeking out those with warrants.

Police said not clearing your warrants will prevent you from doing important things, like getting a job.

"So we really had two out of three courtrooms open all week to help folks, but still you saw those lines down there," Judge Gail Loeb said. "People waited for the last day."
