ARANSAS PASS, Texas (Kiii News) — A man accused of stealing copper from an Aransas Pass hotel has been booked into the San Patricio County Jail, according to police.

60-year-old Terry Carter has been charged with burglary of a building and theft of material. His bond has been set at $50,000.

Aransas Pass police said Carter was allegedly stealing copper tubing from a building under renovations from damage caused by Hurricane Harvey. Officers set up a camera inside the building and after a few days, the suspect showed up again. That's when the police chief went inside to make the arrest.

Police suspect Carter of taking about $6,000 worth of copper from the location.
