Aransas Pass still under water boil as City works to find source of leak

The City of Aransas Pass said they are currently using several different techniques to pinpoint where the leak is.

ARANSAS PASS, Texas — A mandatory water boil advisory is still in effect for the City of Aransas Pass due to a massive leak in their water pipes.

According to City Manager Gary Edwards, they have narrowed down the area where the leak may be, saying it is somewhere in the marsh just north of Aransas Pass along Business 35.

The City of Aransas Pass said they are currently using several different techniques to pinpoint where the leak is. The City has made burms to drain parts of the marsh, flown drones with thermal imaging, and have people searching on foot.

If the City does not find the leak by Wednesday, the City of McAllen is going to offer some assistance.

"We have a crew coming in from McAllen, the City, and they're helping us with some equipment they have for locating leaks, which we don't have that equipment," Edwards said.

According to Edwards, they are trying to fix the problem as soon as possible and he thanks Aransas Pass residents for their patience.
