I-35 and US 183 closures start for flyover reconstruction

Alternating main-lane closures will occur nightly from Sunday to Thursday.

AUSTIN, Texas — More closures have started for the Interstate 35 and US 183 area as TxDOT makes progress on the reconstruction of a new flyover.

Alternating main-lane closures will occur nightly in both directions of the highways for the reconstruction of the northbound I-35 to northbound US 183 flyover. The closures are slated for Sunday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Traffic will detour to the frontage roads during these closures. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each day.

On Sunday, Aug. 8, at 9 p.m., the northbound I-35 main lanes also closed to traffic. Northbound I-35 traffic detoured to the frontage road at the Ronald Reagan Boulevard exit (#271) and re-entered the main lanes at Bud Stockton Loop. The existing Ronald Reagan Boulevard bridge will also be closed.

On Monday, Aug. 9, at 9 p.m. the southbound I-35 main lanes will close to traffic. Southbound I-35 traffic will use the Ronald Reagan Boulevard exit (#271) and re-enter the main lanes at CR 143. The existing Ronald Reagan Boulevard bridge will also be closed. All lanes and the bridge are expected to reopen by 6 a.m.

Road signs have already been placed in the area to remind drivers of the upcoming closures. TxDOT asks travelers to be patient and remain aware when driving through the area.
